The hunt is over. It’s the Season 39 patch!
Hey Loonerinos, hope everyone’s competitive streak is going strong. First and foremost, we’ll be completing the Hillbilly team this season by introducing the remaining two members. Aside from that, we’ll be unveiling two new Hunters and reworking most of the existing characters under this theme. Much like Divine, the Hunters will now be divided into two new teams that will offer their own synergies and gameplay.
No Country for Woodsmen
The Woodsmen are masters of the hunt and will specialize in small game. Joining this team are Elmer Fudd, Marvin Fudd, and two new methodical hunters who know their way around the woods. Without going too deep, the Woodsmen have a lot of passive attack synergy and often prey on the weakest target by inflicting them with Hunter’s Mark. Once marked, targets move slower, find it harder to recover, have their buffs stolen, and defenses lowered until they’re inevitably hunted down one after the other. Here’s a sneak peek into their theme passive:
Once Upon a Safari
While some of the Hunters are withdrawing into the woods, the others are setting out on a Safari! The Safari team will include Major Canasta, Contraptionist Egghead, Bushwhacker Sam, and Outback Dawg, all reworked so as to be well-equipped for bigger hunts and pursuits. This team will be centered around Counter Chance and Lifesteal and here’s what their theme passive is looking like:

Woodsmen
Elmer Fudd
With these reworks, Elmer Fudd will have better defensive tools at his disposal, increased base stats, and the Hunter’s Mark synergy, all of which will enable him to be a Legendary leader for the Woodsmen and improve the team’s viability. While his passive will no longer grant Lifesteal, he will have more utility in terms of granting teamwide buffs, removing enemy buffs, inflicting debuffs, Turn Meter manipulation, and passive AOE damage.

Marvin Fudd
Marvin Fudd will now have higher base damage and Piercing and will be able to passively inflict Damage Over Time. Instead of attacking when a toon is defeated, his passive will now enable him to attack when enemies fall below defined health thresholds. His strongest attack will reset its cooldown when he’s low on health and he’ll be more than capable to inflict debuffs that lower the enemy’s Healing and Defense.

Safari
Major Canasta
Leading the Safari team is Major Canasta, and these reworks will enable him to grant buffs that will notably improve the team’s defensive stance. You may notice we’ve slightly decreased the damage dealt by him, but his base Attack stat has received a significant bump which should more than make up for it. His leadership skill has been tweaked to now synergize specifically with the Safari team, allowing them to heal every time they counter an attack.

Contraptionist Egghead
We’ve made required changes to Contraptionist Egghead to make him a more abled attacker and give him better synergy with his new team. His Trap Enthusiast passive will now trigger whenever he uses a trap ability and will additionally grant him Hidden while the cooldown on his Plan the Approach skill will be reduced. Apart from that, his special attacks will have a stronger emphasis on inflicting debuffs, allowing him to deal Damage Over Time and lower the enemy’s Defense and Recovery.

Bushwhacker Sam
The reworks on Bushwhacker Sam will help him support his teammates better by granting Defense Up to the most injured member and by Cleansing Stat Downs and Special Stat Downs on the team. His Situational Camouflage passive will additionally ensure he gains Heal Over Time when his health drops below a certain point and allied attackers will benefit from his improved modal, which has been moved to Flanking Maneuver to make it more of a proactive than reactive trigger.

Outback Dawg
This rework will shift Outback Dawg from a damage-debuffer to a purely disruptive counter-attacker who will improve the overall sustainability of his team. Aside from receiving higher base stats, he’ll also be able to Flip buffs on enemies and grant Turn Meter to his team. In order to strengthen his relationship synergy, his Wilderness Guide skill will now require at least 1 Hunter ally to activate and will grant all of them Max Health instead of Lifesteal. In an effort to modernize his kit and ensure battles are more synergistic, strategic and fair, we’ve made necessary adjustments to his skills Watch the Teeth and Jungle Remedy.
