Hey hey everyone! With the approach of the spookiest of seasons again, it’s time for us to start revisiting some of our creatures of the night and the few heroes who rise up to stop them! Season 33 will mostly be touching the Unlikely Heroes and a few of the Horror members that are receiving a sub-theme of their own, as opposed to sitting there just as secondary options.

The reworks we’re going over here are actually only a first touch, as we plan to continue revisiting toons from these themes in season 34, which should bring a slightly larger batch of changes. 

For the here and now though, we’ll be completing the Unlikely Heroes, keeping their identity as specialized Monster-slayers. This will be supported by a variety of toons being moved over from their current race tags to Monster to better reflect their nightmarish characteristics.

As for the Horror toons, we’re creating a second full team that has it’s own special interactions, the Mon-Steins, which will be themed around their reworked toons, Monster Foghorn and Dr Dawgstein, hopefully giving a fun halloween twist to the Barnyard crew!

Who’ll stop this Mon-stein?

The Mon-Steins have made it to the World of Mayhem, coming together from the whims of two mad scientists who didn’t really care about the consequences. Featuring the core cast of the Barnyard team in true halloween fashion, this team will already have veterans in the form of Monster Foghorn and Dr. Dawgstein!

This team, like their Barnyard counterparts, features powerful Critical Hits with increased Critical Damage, backed by a large amount of healing and counterattacks and Max Health reduction. They’ll feature as an Alliance Wars offensive team, with some crowd control immunities as they kick off the battle!

Mon-Stein

Monster Foghorn

We’re slightly updating Monster Foghorn’s stats to compensate for his lower baseline as a Rare toon, and slightly tweaking his skills so that he can better make use of the Counter Attack offered by the Theme passive of his new theme. Although we are aware that he’s losing some self-sustainability with the changes to Bad Memories, we’re also buffing Dr Dawgstein’s support capabilities to make up for that!

The first mad scientist to make his way into the World of Mayhem is also joining the Mon-Steins, receiving some updated stats to make-up for his lower baseline as a Rare toon. We’re making some large additions to Anatomical Knowledge and changes to Quicken the Blood both for him to be more powerful in his supporting role as well as give his team powerful anti Damage Over Time capabilities.

Unlikely Heroes

As two new team members arrive, most of the changes to the existing Unlikely Heroes are to offer better support for their unique Emboldened buff, specially by making it considerably more accessible, which opens the way for them to have much more powerful turns earlier in the fight.

Petunia Unleashed

As the leader of the Unlikely Heroes, Petunia will be receiving changes to a few skill in order to better support the team as a whole. First and foremost, her leadership skill Survival Instinct will have its current effect moved over to one of the newcomers, which opens it up for her to immediately kickstart all of the Unlikely Heroes extra effects through Emboldened. We’re also tweaking Crawler Chase to be immediately accessible, but swapping it’s effects around, which should help the entire team get going.

Van Wile

Van Wile is not seeing substantial changes to his skills. We’re updating some of his passive triggers with “Unless Incapacitated” clauses as most passives are, and giving him slight tweaks to his ease of access to Emboldened, the Unlikely Hero unique buff.

Monsters

As mentioned before, we’re swapping quite a few toons to the Monster tag. Their skills and theme tags will not be affected whatsoever, but this is being done both to better reflect what these toons are in game and enable certain specific synergies between and against Monsters.
